Prevention is better than cure

Most dental problems can be prevented, but the key to this is a regular dental check-up. These regular checks focus on preventative maintenance and include a scale and clean. This will help to keep your teeth and gums healthy and spot small issues which can be easily fixed – before they turn into big problems.

Gap free kids’ preventative treatment

Manning Dental are pleased to be able to help local families by providing gap free preventative dental treatment for all kids aged 17 and under, who are covered by a private health fund. They will bulk bill those who are eligible for the Medicare Child Benefit Dental Scheme.

Veneers and crowns – what’s the difference?

Both are dental restoration methods that can improve the look and function of your teeth. The main difference is that a veneer covers the front of your tooth, whereas a crown covers the entire tooth. If your teeth are in need of restoration, talk to the team at Manning Dental who will be able to offer expert advice about the best solution for your needs.

Custom mouthguards

While a shop-bought mouthguard may seem like a good idea, they don’t offer the same protection as one which is professionally fitted just for you. A custom-made mouthguard can protect your teeth and jaw by limiting the impact from contact, particularly while playing sports, and reducing the risk of damage to your teeth. It will also save you the cost of long-term dental treatment for damaged or lost teeth!

Looking after your teeth between visits to the dentist

It’s also important to take care of your teeth and gums between regular visits to your dentist. Plaque is always forming on your teeth, but you can help to manage it by brushing and flossing regularly.

Remember to:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Be sure to use a toothpaste that contains fluoride.
  • Floss daily.
  • Use a mouthwash to help control plaque bacteria. This will also help to keep your breath fresh.

While most people make sure they brush their teeth twice a day, flossing is a lot less common, despite dentists recommending we floss at least once a day. Here’s why it’s so important.
