Muddy Hands Festival

Sunday 19th November from 10.00am to 2.00pm

A fabulous City of Canning event to encourage children and families to enjoy playing outdoors, bringing unstructured play into their everyday lives.

Calling all little adventurers!

The Muddy Hands Festival will be the most fun you'll have in 2023! It's the perfect event where kids and parents can get as dirty and messy as they like - and then get hosed clean afterwards! This wonderful event aims to engage children’s curiosity, by letting them get active in the natural environment with immersive experiences - it's perfect place to celebrate all things nature by unplugging and getting muddy!

This free event features plenty of have a go activities aimed at children aged 3 - 15 (though of course all are welcome!)

From Nature Play WA:

  • Two mud pits (one for big kids, one for little kids - please observe signage)

  • Activities with Educated by Nature

But wait there's more...

  • Pop up sporting activities and workshops

  • Hands on workshops

  • Waste Station (helping you know which bin to use!)

  • A range of food truck options!

  • All the local favourites from the Canning River Cafe

Feel free to pack your own picnic and there are barbecues available for use and don't forget to bring your reusable water bottle to fill up at our water station (and coffee cup for a hot drink!)

The City encourages car pooling, walking and riding your bike. Please avoid parking along Kent Street on the road.

  • Entry plus all the activities are family friendly and free. The food trucks will charge for food and beverage.

  • The City will ensure that food vendors offer a mix of vegan, vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free options.

  • Dogs are welcome on a lead.

  • An existing toilet block is near the event site, as well as portable toilets.

  • Feel free to pack your own picnic. Just avoid bringing glass where possible and ensure all rubbish is disposed of correctly.

  • This event is alcohol free.

There are facilities for people with disabilities

  • Reserved signed ACROD parking is available in the car park closest to the event venue.

  • Please display your ACROD pass.

  • For those in a wheelchair, path access comes off the car park near these bays.

  • The event site has many pathways and will allow for wheelchair usage.

  • Accessible toilets are also available.

The City of Canning would like to acknowledge the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation as the traditional custodians of the land and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
