WA Day 2022
WA Day celebrates all Western Australians, recognising our Aboriginal history, early European settlers and the many from all over the world who have made, and continue to make, Western Australia their home. It’s a day for each of us to reflect and celebrate all the great things about our people, our lifestyle, our culture and our potential.
From 6:00pm, the City of Canning will light up the sky with a number firework display sites launched simultaneously for 10 minutes.
The three locations are:- Queens Park Reserve - Centre St, Queens Park
- Hossack Park - Hossack Ave, Parkwood
- Willetton Park - Apsley Rd, Willetton
The three fireworks sites have been carefully selected and spread across the City to maximise viewing opportunities for residents as much as possible.
Safety
Each location will have a 60m circular exclusion zone, marked with bollards, taping, signage and security to ensure the safety of the community. You may watch from anywhere outside this exclusion zone. However, as a reminder, there will be no facilities or services at these locations other than the fireworks.
Each fireworks display permit meets the requirements of the distance required from residential homes and businesses. The fireworks are shot up 100m and over in the sky and will not put your home in danger. A fire truck is on standby for each location, and all local authorities are aware.
Pets and small children
Fireworks can be loud and understandably disturb small children, pets etc. The City of Canning recommends pre-organising alternative arrangements for that evening should you feel the firework event will pose an issue. The City of Canning apologises if this causes any inconvenience for you.
