  1. If clothes aren’t actually dirty, don’t wash them! Simply hang them on the washing line to freshen them up if necessary.
  1. Use the quick wash setting.
  1. Buy clothes made from wrinkle-free fabrics for less ironing.
  1. Avoid buying clothes with special care instructions – such as hand washing.
  1. Pull your clothes out of the dryer as soon as it’s finished and hang them up. They might not need ironing at all.
  1. Stick to one colour and style of sock, this way you’re not always looking for matching pairs.
  1. Or wash socks in a mesh back to keep them together.
  1. Put wrinkled items in the dryer for a few minutes with some ice cubes for a quick steam press!
  1. Add a clean, dry towel to the dryer with your wet clothes to reduce drying time.
  1. Toss a foil-covered tennis ball in the dryer to reduce static electricity and prevent clumping.
  1. As soon as you have enough laundry for a load, do it straight away rather than letting it build up.
  1. Get clothes out of the washing machine as soon as it is finished – there will be fewer wrinkles.
  1. Lay a sheet of aluminium foil (shiny side up) under the ironing board cover for faster crease removal.
  1. And finally - teach your kids to do their own laundry!
