  1. First, don’t eat in your car! But if you can’t resist take any rubbish from your car snacks out of the car on the same day! You can also reuse a small shopping bag as a rubbish bin but remember to empty it on a regular basis.
  2. Keep a packet of wet wipes in your glove compartment to wipe up spills as soon as they happen (not while you are still driving, obviously – always pull over safely).
  3. Use silicone cupcake liners to stop your cup holders from becoming dirty and sticky. These are much easier to take out and clean.
  4. Don’t let stuff such as coats, running shoes and excess shopping bags build up - every time you leave, take something out.
  5. Keep a lint roller in the car for any stray pet or people hair.
  6. Sprinkle bi-carb soda on your car upholstery, let it sit for a couple of minutes and then vacuum to get rid of bad smells.
  7. Invest in some rubber floor mats to protect your carpets from mud and dirt.
  8. If you have carpet-style foot mats, shake them out regularly to reduce the need for constant vacuuming.
  9. Consider using car seat covers that you can pop into the washing machine when they get dirty.
  10. Vacuum your car regularly. Start from the top and work down to the bottom, so dust doesn’t fall into the parts you’ve already cleaned.
  11. And have your car detailed by a professional every now and again just to keep everything under control!
