12 easy tips to prevent your car interior looking like a rubbish bin
November 3, 2022
- First, don’t eat in your car! But if you can’t resist take any rubbish from your car snacks out of the car on the same day! You can also reuse a small shopping bag as a rubbish bin but remember to empty it on a regular basis.
- Keep a packet of wet wipes in your glove compartment to wipe up spills as soon as they happen (not while you are still driving, obviously – always pull over safely).
- Use silicone cupcake liners to stop your cup holders from becoming dirty and sticky. These are much easier to take out and clean.
- Don’t let stuff such as coats, running shoes and excess shopping bags build up - every time you leave, take something out.
- Keep a lint roller in the car for any stray pet or people hair.
- Sprinkle bi-carb soda on your car upholstery, let it sit for a couple of minutes and then vacuum to get rid of bad smells.
- Invest in some rubber floor mats to protect your carpets from mud and dirt.
- If you have carpet-style foot mats, shake them out regularly to reduce the need for constant vacuuming.
- Consider using car seat covers that you can pop into the washing machine when they get dirty.
- Vacuum your car regularly. Start from the top and work down to the bottom, so dust doesn’t fall into the parts you’ve already cleaned.
- And have your car detailed by a professional every now and again just to keep everything under control!
