Check your gutters and downpipes for damage before winter rain arrives

3 small signs that your gutters and downpipes need attention.

April 24, 2020

Always keep an eye on your gutters and downpipes as they divert large volumes of water away from your home to prevent water damage.  If there is a crack or rusted out hole in your gutters, the water can easily seep under the eaves causing water damage and mould in your ceiling, or it can run down the drainpipe and cause water damage near your foundations or outdoor area. If you can see bubbling paint or rust spots on your gutters and downpipes, it's time to get them inspected by a professional.

It's best to do this sooner rather than later as winter is on its way and damaged gutters and downpipes won't be able to do their job properly. Once rust sets in, it will only get worse and could mean replacement rather than repairs.

Watch out for:

  • Bubbling paint on the underside of the gutters or on your downpipes
  •
  • Stains on the underside of eaves
  •
  • Small rust coloured spots on your gutters or downpipes
