Now the winter weather has arrived, you might find that water, leaves and debris are blowing under your garage door and making a mess. This could be due to one of two things:
The weather seal on the bottom of your garage door isn't doing its job properly
It is designed to keep debris and water out of your garage, but over time it can harden and lose its shape. When this happens, it won't be as effective and will need a replacement.
Your garage door isn’t closing properly, and the springs may need attention
A crooked door which doesn’t close properly is often due to a damaged extension spring. These springs are mounted on either side of the door and pull independently, so you should always look to make sure both sides of your garage door are aligned. If they seem a little off kilter, your springs could need adjustment or repair.
Never try to repair or replace garage door springs yourself as they are tightly wound and under a lot of tension, making them dangerous to someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. Leave this one to the experts!
