Keep your windows cleaner for longer

If you have your windows professionally cleaned, a few simple habits can help extend that sparkling clean look and keep both the inside and outside of your windows looking fresh between visits.

Dust and smudge control

Dust the inside of your windows weekly with a dry microfiber cloth to prevent particles from settling. For fingerprints or light marks, use a damp cloth followed by a dry one to avoid streaks.

Dust doesn’t just settle on shelves and skirting boards – your windows can be targeted too. Give the inside of your windows a quick weekly dust with a dry microfibre cloth. It only takes a minute or two, and it stops that fine layer of grime from building up and making your glass look less than gleaming.

If little fingers or the occasional smudge make an appearance, a damp cloth followed by a dry one will tidy it up without leaving streaks behind.

Don’t skip the sills and frames

While it’s easy to focus on the glass, the windowsills and frames deserve some love too. Dust, cobwebs and debris can collect in these spots, especially around sliding tracks. If left untouched, it doesn’t take long for the grime to find its way back onto the glass.

A soft brush or vacuum attachment can whisk away the worst of it in seconds – a small step that makes a big difference.

Curtains, blinds, and airflow

Curtains and blinds can quietly collect dust that ends up floating straight onto your clean windows. Giving them a regular shake-out or run over them with the vacuum can keep it under control. And while fresh air is always lovely, if it’s particularly windy or dusty outside, keeping windows closed will help keep airborne debris from settling straight onto your panes.

Exterior timing and touch-ups

Wind, rain and stormy weather have a habit of undoing even the best exterior window clean. If you can, try to book your professional cleans after a stretch of wild weather has passed. You’ll get more mileage out of the effort! In between, a quick spot clean of reachable areas – especially splashes or streaks left by rain – will help keep things looking neat and tidy.

A little goes a long way

It doesn’t take much to stay on top of window maintenance between professional cleans. With a few quick touch-ups here and there, you can enjoy that fresh, just-cleaned look for longer.
