Recycle your mobile phone by mail for free!

Most of us would be aware that we can now recycle mobile phones. But did you know that you can recycle them via MobileMuster, by post for free? Here’s what you need to do.

Research shows that most Australian households have at least two old mobiles sitting around, unused. This makes up an estimated 25 million stored across the country.  

Mobile phones are treasure troves of valuable components including metals such as gold, copper, silver and palladium. We mine these precious resources all over the world to make our mobile phones and that’s a lot of energy, carbon and resources, especially when we have lots of these resources sitting in our old phones at home.

What is accepted?

  • All brands of mobile phones
  • Mobile chargers and accessories
  • Wearables including smart watches

Mailing options

There are three mailing options to post back your old mobiles and accessories for recycling.  

The mailing options are free and will be paid by MobileMuster.

  1. Use your own packaging and attach the AusPost returns label.  
  1. Pick up a MobileMuster satchel from your local Australia Post office or JB Hi-Fi store.
  1. Go to MobileMuster, fill in the form and they will send you a mailing satchel.

Take it to your local Australia Post Office or our put it straight into an Australia Post mailbox.  

MobileMuster makes sure all your data is destroyed through their secure recycling process or you can go to remove your data and do it yourself.
