Fun with Kids

Create some fun with empty cardboard boxes

Make your own gooey slime with just three ingredients!

Whatever their age – kids love playing with slime. It’s a great sensory play experience and encourages fine motor skills. Sensory play also helps kids regulate their emotions and slime can be a great calming activity.

3-ingredient slime (makes 2 cups)

  • 250 ml washable, clear school glue
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2-3 tbsp saline solution (used for storing contact lenses & available at chemists)
  • food colouring (optional)

  • Pour the glue into a medium bowl and stir in the food colouring if you’re using it. This mixture doesn't need to be thoroughly mixed at this stage, as you'll keep mixing it after adding the baking soda
  • Add the baking soda and mix until smooth.
  • Pour in 2 tablespoons of the contact lens solution and stir slowly. The mixture should begin to harden, becoming stringy.
  • Keep mixing slowly until a ball of slime forms and then knead until smooth.
  • If your slime is too slimy another 1/2 tablespoon of contact lens solution as needed.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks
