Quality electrical work every single time

Steve Eather of SJE Electrical is your local electrician. He has been in the industry since 2001 and can help you with all your electrical work around the home. Steve takes great pride in his professionalism and with his expertise you can rest assured that all workmanship is of the highest quality every single time.

He can offer advice and make suggestions for all electrical work around your home including lighting design. Steve and his team are reliable and friendly, and his customers appreciate the respect that is shown to their homes. They are very particular about leaving your home the way they found it, so no dust, rubbish or mess is left behind.

SJE Electrical can help you with:

  • Power points
  • Light fittings
  • Downlights
  • Outdoor lighting
  • Garden lighting
  • Bathroom lights/heaters
  • Security sensors
  • Ceiling fans
  • Exhaust fans
  • Air conditioning wiring
  • Spa wiring
  • Safety switches (RCDs)
  • Smoke alarms
  • Domestic & commercial

Protect your family with safety switches

It’s a fact, safety switches save lives. The best way to protect yourself and your family is to make sure you have safety switches (RCDs) installed in your switchboard. A safety switch will automatically shut off the electrical supply when current is detected leaking from faulty switches, wiring or electrical appliances. Call Steve and his team and they will check your switchboard, and install them if necessary. They can also check that the safety switches you have are working properly.

Surge arresters

Lightning strikes, faulty wiring and damaged power lines can cause surges or voltage strikes, which can seriously damage your electrical equipment. A surge arrester installed in your switchboard will protect your valuable electronic equipment.

Life-saving hardwired smoke alarms

Hardwired smoke alarms are mandatory in new and renovated houses, but Steve recommends older homes also have them installed. This is the best way for early smoke detection, keeping you and your family safe in the event of a fire. With a hardwired smoke alarm, you don’t have to worry about the battery running out and the smoke alarm failing offers a smoke alarm installation service and they can also advise on the type and position of the smoke alarm for maximum effectiveness.

Extra power points

Most homes have a shortage of power points and people tend to overload the power outlets they have with adaptors and extension cords, which can be very dangerous. The sensible and safe solution is to ask Steve and his team to change your single power points into double power points and also to add extra power points wherever you need them.

Extend your living areas outside with lighting

Make the most of your outdoor areas all year round with attractive and functional outdoor lighting. If you have a deck or patio area, with lighting installed, it’s as good as an extension without the cost.  A combination of uplights as well as lights installed on outdoor structures will be very effective.  You could also light paths, driveways, garages and entries to keep your home safe after dark. The more lights you have, the safer your outdoor areas will be. Call SJE Electrical and they can advise you on the best combination and positioning of lights.

Cost-effective LED lighting

Lighting can contribute to over 30% of a household’s total electricity bill. By asking Steve to replace your existing lighting with energy-efficient LED lights, you will save money, and also receive other benefits such as:

  • LED lights last 8-10 times longer than standard halogen lamps.
  • They create less heat and are cool to the touch.
  • No filaments means that LEDs are less likely to break.
  • The bulbs can be as small as 2mm making them ideal for compact areas.
  • LEDs start at full brightness instantly.
  • LEDs can be exposed to rain.
  • They are environmentally-friendly.

Whatever your electrical requirements, call Steve and his team for a job well done.

overloaded power outlet with adaptors and powerboard

Every power outlet in your home is designed to deliver a certain amount of energy, but when this amount of energy is exceeded, a range of problems can occur, including damaged appliances, tripped circuit breakers and electrical fires.

Electrician testing for electrical fault

Faulty wiring is one of the five most common causes of electrical fires. Fortunately, there are a few warning signs, so the problem can be fixed before it causes any major damage.

Power boards can be a useful way to increase the number of power outlets in your home, but only if they are used safely and correctly. Here’s what you should and shouldn’t do.

Bathroom extractor fan

In the bathroom, the most important function of your exhaust fan is to draw warm, humid air out of the room during a hot shower, which prevents mould and mildew from forming. But your exhaust fan can still draw out your cooling and heating, even when it's switched off
