Unveiling the heart of camaraderie - discover the City of Cockburn RSL

In the heart of Cockburn lies a place where camaraderie, remembrance, and community spirit intertwine to create an extraordinary haven for past and present members of the Australian Defence Forces and their allies. The City of Cockburn RSL is not just a club; it's a cherished home where stories are shared, laughter resonates, and support thrives.

Facilities

Sporting a full liquor license and equipped with top-notch amenities, including a light projector and expansive television, this welcoming club is designed to accommodate up to 200 people. If you're seeking a place to host your own event, look no further – the club's hall is available for hire.

Poppy Ladies

Ladies who've served or are affiliates will find solace and friendship in the Poppy Ladies group. Every second Saturday from 1.00pm to 4.00pm, these spirited individuals come together for fellowship, craft sessions, and delightful outings. As if that wasn't enough, an annual weekend retreat promises even more bonding and shared memories.

Maintenance Team

A dedicated group of volunteers known as the Maintenance Team tirelessly tend to the club's grounds, lawns, and the serene Memorial garden. With their commitment, this place remains not just a venue, but a living tribute to the sacrifices of the past. Their efforts also extend to the meticulous upkeep of the club's cherished memorabilia.

Youth Group

For the younger generation aged 10 to 18, the Youth Group offers more than just friendships; they're bridges that span generations, uniting the past and present.

A helping hand in times of need

The Welfare Committee stands ready to offer a hand to members facing illness or hardship. They extend their support not only to the members themselves but also to their families, assisting with financial matters and ensuring that no one walks this path alone.

A year of Remembrance

Throughout the year, the City of Cockburn RSL hosts a series of remembrance services to honour those who've served. From commemorating the Bombing of Darwin to Vietnam Veterans' Day, these events weave the threads of history into the present, ensuring that sacrifices are never forgotten.

More than just a club

The City of Cockburn RSL isn't just about solemn remembrance; it's about celebrating life and community spirit. From Mystery Bus Tours to lively Melbourne Cup gatherings, from heartfelt fundraising events to quiz nights that challenge the mind, this club buzzes with activity and vibrant energy.

Veterans' Hub: A beacon of assistance

The Veterans' Hub stands as a pillar of support for veterans seeking guidance and assistance. Whether it's navigating pensions, compensation, welfare issues, or dealings with the Department of Veterans' Affairs, a team of trained compensation officers is just an email away. Appointments can be easily arranged, and membership in the RSL is not a prerequisite for seeking help.

Opening times

The City of Cockburn RSL opens its doors every Friday from 4.00pm to 8.00pm, inviting you to join the camaraderie. On Mondays, a drop-in session from 8.00am to 11.00am offers another opportunity to connect and share stories.

A time to gather

Club meetings bring members together to discuss and shape the future of the RSL. General meetings occur on the second Sunday of even-numbered months, while the Annual General Meeting takes place on the second Sunday of September, starting at 10.15am.

The City of Cockburn RSL isn't just a club; it's a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of history, friendship, and community. For those seeking a place where tradition and modernity collide in a symphony of heartwarming connections, this RSL stands as a shining beacon of camaraderie and support.

Two pathways to belonging

No matter how you've touched the realm of service, the RSL club offers two distinct paths for membership, each tailored to ensure your unique journey is celebrated.

1. Service Membership

For those who've served in the Australian Defence Force – Regular or Reserve – or have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Allied Forces, Service Membership is the way to go. The RSL club is more than just a place; it's a sanctuary for stories, shared experiences, and the indomitable bond that comes from protecting one's homeland.

For our active Australian Defence Force members, the RSL extends an extra special gesture – your first year of membership is free of charge.

2. Affiliate Membership

The RSL club recognises that strength lies not just in those who've served directly, but also in those who stand in the wings, supporting from the sidelines. If you're related to someone eligible for Service Membership, or if you're part of organisations such as the Fire Brigade, Police, Nurses, Emergency Services, Prison Officers, Australian Border Force, or the Cadets (Adult), then Affiliate Membership awaits you. This is your opportunity to be a part of a community that reverberates with shared values and camaraderie.

Join the RSL club today – where every handshake is a salute, every smile a sign of respect, and every membership card a ticket to an extended family that stands as a testament to service and friendship.
