Toy Library

Greenwood Toy LIbrary

A community toy library self-run by members and local volunteers. For a membership fee, you can borrow and take home toys for your children and grandchildren.

Toy Library

The Greenwood Toy Library has been serving the community since 1992 and was originally established as the Bunyip Toy Library.

They are a non-profit organization that offers a vast collection of toys for families to borrow. With membership, families can enjoy numerous benefits including:

  • Access to over 1000 toys
  • Borrowing toys tailored to their children's needs, developmental stage, and interests
  • Borrowing toys designed for skill-building activities like fine motor skill development
  • Convenient storage solutions for multiple or bulky toys
  • Helping the environment by choosing to borrow instead of buy
  • Opportunities to meet other families
  • Trying toys before purchasing to ensure a successful toy purchase
  • Being a part of the local community

How It Works:
The Greenwood Toy Library is run by its members, overseen by a volunteer committee elected at the annual AGM. The committee takes on various roles and you can learn more about them by clicking here.
Members contribute to the operation of the toy library by participating in borrowing shifts, which involve checking toys in and out during library hours. Members are expected to help out twice a term, and these shifts are fun opportunities for members to see the library's toys and for children to play with them.

Opening Hours:
The toy library is open for two sessions per week to accommodate families' schedules, with hours on Thursday evenings from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM and Saturday mornings from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
