Come and try Scottish Country Dancing!

If you fancy giving this fun and fabulous way of dancing a try, join the Rockingham Scottish Country Dancers.

It is not necessary to come with a partner as everyone dances with a different person each dance. The dances are performed in sets of either three, four or five couples.

The dances are made up from various formations such as right hands across, circle and reel to name a few. They can be fast (reels and jigs) or slow (strathspey).

Each session lasts two hours, during which you will:

  • Get an aerobic fitness workout
  • Give your memory a good workout
  • Socialise with other dancers
  • Have a break for a cuppa half way through the morning
  • Have fun & make new friends

Dress is neat and casual, you don’t have to be Scottish and a kilt is not necessary!  However, soft, flexible, flat-soled shoes are advisable and a water bottle to keep hydrated between dances.

Join in on Thursdays from 9.30am to 11.30am during school term time at the 1st Rockingham Scout Hall, Wanliss St, Rockingham.
