Scarborough Toy Library
With a collection of over 1,000 high quality toys selected to encourage play, imagination and development, we are sure you'll find the Scarborough Toy Library a great resource for your growing child.
Toys can be borrowed and changed weekly or fortnightly for something new. No more storage problems, boredom or expensive home toy collections.
Members can borrow eight toys for two weeks at a time from our large collection of over 1,000 toys including puzzles, ride-ons, games, musical instruments, dress ups, toys for first years and imagination and construction related toys. Toys can be extended for an additional two weeks online through Mibase.
New members must first complete an induction before borrowing any toys. Inductions can be completed online.
Scarborough Toy Library caters for up to 90 families with membership open to families with children aged from 0 to 6 years.
Borrowing toys
- Opening hours: Saturday mornings, 9.30am to 11.30am, excluding some public holidays
- Members can borrow eight toys for up to two weeks and can renew for an additional two weeks if you wish
- The toys need to be returned clean and ready for someone else to borrow
How it works
Members agree to assist on the roster twice a year (once every six months), plus helping to clean and catalogue the entire set of toys every year at stocktake. The committee is made up of members, and oversees the running of the library, doing the background work of buying and cataloguing new toys, and handling other administration.
