13 stress-free Xmas decorating ideas

Christmas is a very busy time of year, including shopping, putting up decorations and loads more. But don’t panic! We’ve put together some quick and easy ideas to have your home looking Christmassy in no time.

  1. Create a fabulous fairy light display using a cone shaped plant trainer from your local garden centre. Wrap battery-operated fairy lights around the trainer and you’ve got a mini-indoor, or outdoor Christmas tree.
  1. No room for a Christmas tree? No problem. Put one on your wall – it’s quick and easy. All you need is tinsel, battery-operated lights, ornaments, and removable clear, plastic hooks to hang them with. Make a tree design on your wall from tinsel and add the lights and ornaments.
  1. Fill jars or vases with battery-operated fairy lights for a pretty decoration.
  1. Turn a bare windowsill or tabletop Christmassy by filling glass jars or vases of different heights with baubles.
  1. Put white sand or pebbles into different sized jars and add candles – simple and effective, especially outdoors at night.
  1. Spray pinecones silver or gold (or leave them natural) and put them in a shallow bowl with colourful baubles for a table centrepiece.
  1. Create some Christmassy aromas by putting cinnamon sticks, star anise and dried orange peel around a candle in a shallow bowl.
  1. Glue small, coloured baubles together in the shape of a Christmas tree for mini table decorations – you can use any colour you like!
  1. Turn scrapbooking paper into a quick tabletop display. Cut and fold paper into cone shapes for ‘trees’ of different sizes. Secure seams with double-sided tape.
  1. Fill a large vase with evergreen cuttings from your garden tie around a festive ribbon.
  1. Grab a cake stand. Lay down a layer of leaves from your garden and top with Christmas baubles.
  1. Hang solar or battery-operated fairy lights and Christmas decorations on your smaller outdoor trees or shrubs. You could also wrap a festive ribbon around the trunk or pot.
  1. Find an assortment of glasses of different sizes and fill them with candy canes. Tie a ribbon around and you’ve got instant decorations or a table decoration (and you can eat the candy canes. Bonus!).

Remember:

If you are using several jars, vases or bowls, odd numbers look better. And after Christmas get ready for next year by wrapping (in plastic wrap) your Christmas Tree with all the ornaments and lights on, for an instant, decorated tree next year!
