Containers for Change
Some plastic lids can be recycled via the government’s Containers for Change scheme, (where you drop your eligible containers for a 10c refund).
Containers for Change will accept lids from eligible containers only. These are the lids from the containers which are eligible for the 10c refund. There is no refund for the lids.
Remove the lids from all the containers and drop them at your local Containers for Change depot in a separate bag. There is no refund for the lids, but they are processed to make a variety of items and are diverted from landfill.
Containers for Change will not accept lids from the following:
- Plain milk containers
- Flavoured milk more than 1 litre
- Fruit & vegetable juice more than 1 litre
- Cordials, concentrated fruit & vegetable juices
