You’ll need

  • 2 tablespoons liquid dish soap
  • About 3 tablespoons cornflour (plus extra if needed)
  • Food colouring (optional)

What to do

  1. In a small bowl, mix a few drops of food colouring (if using) into the dish soap, then mix with 2 tablespoons of cornflour.
  2. Stir until the mixture starts to come together.
  3. Sprinkle in the remaining cornflour, a little at a time, until you have a dough that feels stretchy but not sticky.
  4. Knead it with your hands for a minute or two – the texture will smooth out as you go.
  5. Play straight away. If it’s too sticky, just work in a bit more cornflour.

Tip: Because it’s made with soap, this silly putty won’t last forever – store it in an airtight container and enjoy for a day or two before making a fresh batch.

More ooey, gooey and squishy fun!
