Make your own simple silly putty
You will need
1 cup of cornflour
½ - 1 cup of clear, liquid soap
Food colouring
Spoons & bowls for mixing
Method
Put a cup of cornflour into a bowl.
Add half a cup of the liquid soap to start with and mix with the spoon. Add a couple of drops of food colouring (or more if you want a deeper colour).
Mix with a spoon until it becomes too difficult– then use your hands.
If it’s too dry to hold together, add more soap a bit at a time.
When your putty is pliable, a bit slimy and stretchy, but no longer sticks to your fingers, it’s ready!
Repeat the process if you want to make different colours.
The putty will dry out as you play with it, but you can add a little more liquid soap.
It can be stored up to a couple of days in a ziplock bag but may need a bit more soap added to make it pliable and a bit stretchy again.
Edible silly putty!
¾ cup cornflour
1 cup yoghurt (flavoured or plain but without chunks of fruit!)
- Mix the cornflour and yoghurt together. If it’s too sticky, sprinkle in some more cornflour. If it’s too dry add a bit more yoghurt.
- When the mix is no longer sticky, roll the putty into a ball and knead it until smooth. Then it’s ready to play with!
- This doesn’t keep, so you’ll need to make a fresh batch each time.
