Begonias
Begonias are champions of the shade and add much-needed colour. They produce blooms that range from deep scarlet through to orange, pink and creamy white.
Hostas
While some Hostas tolerate sun, those grown in partial shade usually produce the best-looking and longest-lasting leaves. There are so many varieties to choose from.
Coleus
Coleus has foliage that has stunning colours and patterns from spring through autumn.
Ferns
Ferns come in a range of shapes, sizes and shades of green (and sometimes even red). They are a great addition to a shaded area of any garden.
Hellebore
Hellebores like nutrient-rich, well-drained soil, which makes them a good choice for growing in the shade under trees.
Kaffir Lily
This stunning plant from the Amaryllis family promises to brighten up any outside space with their clusters of vibrant trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom in shades of orange, red and yellow come spring.
Giant Mondo Grass
Though referred to as a grass this plant is actually a lily and can completely transform bare or stark areas of the garden. It likes partial to full shade.
Trailing Lasiandra
A prolific display of purple/pink flowers cloak foliage from late spring through to early summer. Evergreen, dense mat-forming foliage is ideal for covering large areas or for cascading over walls or rockeries.
Creeping Jenny
Forms a compact mound of green and chocolate-coloured foliage with clusters of lemon-yellow flowers in spring.
