Homemade fabric softener

Ingredients

6 cups vinegar

1 cup sodium bicarbonate

15 drops essential oil (optional)

To make

  • Pour the vinegar into a large bowl and sodium bicarb into a bowl.
  • It will fizz up. When the fizzing has settled, pour into a container, and add the essential oil (if using). Use up to one cup per full load.

Or

Ingredients

5 cups hot water

3 cups vinegar

1 cup hair conditioner (the cheapest will work just as well as the most expensive but choose a fragrance that you like!)

To make

  • Mix the water and conditioner together in a bowl
  • Stir in the vinegar
  • Pour into a container
  • Use as you would any store-bought fabric softener

Not a recipe, but if you want to fluff up bedding or reduce wrinkles when tumble drying your clothes put a new tennis ball into a sock (so none of the colour transfers) and throw it in with your wet tumble dryer load!
