Prevention is better than cure

Did you know that most dental problems can be prevented? The key to prevention is having a regular dental check-up which is why The Reef team encourages their patients to make their dental health a priority and see them every three-six months or annually, depending on your needs. 

During these check-ups, they focus on preventative maintenance including a scale and clean plus x-rays if required. This way, they can help to keep your teeth and gums healthy, prevent plaque build-up and keep an eye out for any small problems, so they don’t turn into big ones.

A positive dental experience

At the Reef, the experienced team will do everything they can to ensure you have a pain-free experience. They know that many people avoid the dentist out of fear and anxiety. They offer different options to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.

• They provide Bose noise-cancelling headphones so you can tune out while you’re having your dental work done and watch the TV they have installed on the ceiling.
• They use topical anaesthetics prior to all injections, and always inject carefully and slowly, which helps contribute to a pain-free experience.
• They use various instruments such as dental dams and small blocks, which help with having to hold your mouth open for some time.
• They can also discuss various forms of dental sedation to ease your anxiety so you can get the dental treatment you need without fear.
• For more invasive procedures — or when patients have more severe levels of fear — they can offer IV sedation; for this they will have an anaesthetist in the clinic to administer this form of sedation.
