Don't plant these trees if you have a small garden!

If you’re planning to plant trees in your small garden, here are some troublemakers you should definitely steer clear of!

Jacaranda

They create a stunning purple canopy when they bloom. However, be cautious if you're thinking of planting one. Their roots love to peek out above the topsoil, making them a potential trip hazard. And if they get too close to structures, they can be quite the troublemaker and cause damage to foundations.

Eucalyptus

While they have a majestic charm, they might not be the best fit for your small backyard. They grow like giants, and their roots are known to cause property damage. Plus, their branches can be weak, making them dangerous during high winds and storms.

Tipuana

These giants can provide wonderful shade in large outdoor spaces. However, for your typical backyard, they might be a bit too much. They grow rapidly and can quickly take over if you have a small garden.

Ficus

Be cautious when planting them in your garden. These little guys have some serious roots! They can damage your paving, sewerage pipes, retaining walls, and even your property foundations. Even if they are grown in pots, the roots can escape out of drainage holes and through brick paving if you don’t watch them closely.

Liquidamabar

These trees are like nature's artwork, especially in the autumn when their leaves turn stunning shades of orange, red, and purple. But these beauties come with a catch. Their roots are incredibly aggressive and can cause chaos in your underground pipes.

Camphor Laurel

Don't let looks fool you! Camphor Laurel trees may seem lush and gorgeous, but they have a dark side. They grow rapidly, reaching great heights and come with highly invasive roots.

Weeping Willow

While beautiful, the weeping willow has invasive roots that can cause significant damage to pipes and foundations.

Opting for smaller, non-invasive tree varieties like dwarf or ornamental trees can help you maintain the beauty of your garden without worrying about the extensive damage to your property.
