The most common indoor plant pests include spider mites, scale insects, mealybugs, thrips, and aphids. These pests feed on the sap of the plant, causing damage to leaves, stems, and roots, and potentially killing the plant if left untreated. How to save a dying houseplant

Spider mites

Tiny spider-like creatures that can cause yellow or brown spots on leaves and webs on the plant. To get rid of spider mites, wash the plant with a strong spray of water and use a natural insecticide such as neem oil or pyrethrum.

Scale insects

Small, flat, and oval-shaped pests that attach themselves to stems and leaves, sucking the sap from the plant. To control scale insects, remove them from the plant with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and treat with horticultural oil.

Mealybugs

Tiny white, cottony pests that feed on the sap of the plant and can cause leaves to yellow and drop. To control mealybugs, remove them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and treat with neem oil.

Thrips

Tiny, slender insects that feed on the sap of the plant, causing discoloration and distortion of leaves. To control thrips, use a natural insecticide such as pyrethrin.

Aphids

Small, soft-bodied insects that feed on the sap of the plant and can cause stunted growth and distorted leaves. To control aphids, use a strong spray of water to remove them, and treat with neem oil.

Keep a close eye on your indoor plants because the earlier you can spot and treat pests, the more damage you can prevent, and the happier your plants will be!
