When you want to remember something – repetition is the key. Repeat it to yourself several times to create a stronger memory of the information.
Say things out loud to yourself. For example: ‘I turned off the oven and the lights before I locked the door’.
Read lots - to develop language skills and increase attention span.
Our brains love to make connections between things, so if you want to remember someone's name (for example), try to link it to an image.
Use mnemonic phrases. For example, to remember the colours of the rainbow, use ‘Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain’ which contains the first letter of each colour in order. Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet
Practise mindfulness. Being present in the moment can help you create stronger memories.
Meditation is great for your mind and body – it only takes brief, daily meditation to enhance attention and memory.
