Moisturise
Hydration is key to keeping your hands soft and smooth. You may notice that your hands can get dry and cracked, especially during colder months or after lots of handwashing. The solution? Moisturiser!
Pro tip: Keep a small tube of hand cream in your bag or on your desk, so you can reapply throughout the day!
Sunscreen
We’re great at putting sunscreen on our face, but what about our hands? The skin on our hands is just as prone to sun damage and signs of aging (especially if you do a lot of driving). Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to protect your hands from harmful UV rays.
Bonus tip: Find a hand cream with built-in SPF to streamline your routine!
Exfoliate
Exfoliating your hands helps remove dead skin cells and improve the texture of your skin. Using a gentle scrub once a week should be enough to keep your hands looking fresh and glowing. Just make sure to follow up with a moisturiser to lock in hydration.
Cuticle care
Your cuticles deserve a little love too! Dry, cracked cuticles can be uncomfortable and can even lead to infections. Use a cuticle oil or cream to keep them hydrated and push them back gently with a cuticle stick. Never cut your own cuticles, as this can lead to infection.
Glove up
Whether you're doing the dishes or cleaning the house, gloves are a hand-care essential. Hot water and harsh detergents can dry out your hands, so slip on some rubber gloves when doing household chores.
Pamper
Before you hit the hay, take a couple of minutes to give your hands a little extra love. Apply a generous amount of hand cream and slip on a pair of cotton gloves. This overnight treatment will help lock in moisture and leave your hands feeling super soft by morning.
Trim and file
Keeping your nails neatly trimmed and filed not only looks good, but it also prevents snags and breaks. Use a nail clipper to trim them down, and a file to shape them as you like.
Hydrate
Drinking plenty of water is just as important for your hands as it is for the rest of your body. Make sure you're staying hydrated throughout the day to keep your skin healthy.
And don’t forget to give your hands and nails a treat with a professional manicure and a hand massage every now and again. It's a great way to keep your hands and nails healthy and a relaxing way to de-stress.
