Pros

Cost

  • Because laminate flooring is made mostly from composite wood pressed together at high temperatures, it can be a fraction of the cost of natural timber.
  • It is also easier and faster to install, saving even more money.

Style

  • Because it comes in so many different styles, there is something to suit every home.
  • And because of advances in laminate flooring technology, the difference between natural timber and laminate is getting harder to see.

Durability

  • Because it is engineered, the top layer of laminate provides resistance to scratching and damage. It is also less likely to fade over time.
  • Minor spills and marks can simply be wiped away with a soft microfibre cloth and it’s easy to sweep or vacuum away any dirt and dust.

Cons

  • Whilst small liquid spills aren’t a problem if they are cleaned up straight away, your laminate flooring won’t withstand flooding!

  • Unlike natural timber flooring, laminate doesn’t last forever as it can’t be sanded and refinished. However, if you choose high quality laminate flooring and have it professionally installed, it can last for 20-30 years.
