Solar maintenance will maintain your savings

Because of their position on your roof, it’s all too easy to put your solar panels into the ‘out of sight, out of mind’ basket. But just like your car, your solar power system should have regular maintenance to make sure it’s working efficiently.

Without regular maintenance you might not be getting the optimum savings from your solar power investment and it’s best not to wait until you see a jump in your electricity bills to take action.

Solar panels work by absorbing light into their solar cells. If the panel is dusty, dirty or covered in leaves, its ability to produce energy will be reduced.  Most solar power systems come with an app that let you know how much energy they are generating over time; if you notice this reducing, it’s a clear indication your panels are due for a clean.

Before your rush out and grab a ladder to start cleaning, remember that climbing onto a roof could be risky for you, and you could also damage your solar panels if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Your local solar power expert will come and service your solar panels and inverter to make sure it is operating at its most efficient. They will clean your panels, monitor their energy output, check the cables, connections and inverter. They will also check for any damage on your panels.

This way, you can be sure you are getting the most from your solar power system and saving money.
