- Choose your day wisely – try to avoid cleaning your windows on a sunny day. Aside from the unnecessary perspiration, direct sunlight can cause the window to dry too quickly leaving smears and streaks.
- Dust. Dust. Dust. Remove loose debris, cobwebs and dust particles before any liquid touches the glass
- Next, gather your supplies. You'll need a bucket, a squeegee, a microfibre cloth, a cleaning solution, and some warm water.
- You can use a commercial window cleaner or make your own by mixing equal parts water and vinegar. Adding a few drops of dish soap can also help to cut through any grime.
- Apply your cleaning solution – if your windows aren’t too dirty you can spray the solution on or you can use a sponge.
- Squeegee time - starting at the top of the window, pull it down in a straight line. Wipe the squeegee clean with a cloth after each stroke.
- Once you've squeegeed the entire window, use a microfiber cloth to wipe away any remaining solution or streaks. Make sure to use a clean section of the cloth for each pass.
- If you have particularly dirty windows, you may need to repeat the process a few times to get them completely clean.
- Finally, check for any spots you may have missed and touch up as needed.
