Walk, don’t run!
DIY tiling is definitely a situation where patience is key. Just like Rome wasn't built in a day, a great tiling job takes time. Rushing through any step, especially cutting tiles, or walking on them too soon, can lead to tile break (and heartbreak).
Skipping the prep work
Ignoring this step is like trying to dance with two left feet. Smooth surfaces are a must which means saying adios to dust, debris, and anything else that stands in the way of your tiles.
Running out of tiles
To avoid a sprint to the store (and possibly finding they’ve run out), buying more than you think you'll need is a great idea. Adding about 10% more for those ‘just in case’ moments can save your day.
Grout goofs
While the tiles are the star of the show, grout is the awesome supporting act. Grout isn't just about filling in the gaps—it's the secret weapon that brings your design to life, tying everything together – and if it isn’t perfect, it will show.
Skipping spacers
You wouldn’t start a painting project without taping the edging (would you?) – so you should never skip using spacers. These little pals ensure your tiles stay in line, giving you that crisp, clean look.
Adhesive agggghhhhs!
Using the wrong type of adhesive is a bit like trying to run a marathon in high heels. There's a perfect adhesive for every tile and situation, so make sure they're matched up correctly.
And if all this sounds a little bit like too much hard work – contact your local tiling expert. They have the skills, tools, and experience to get it right first time (and in a lot less time!).
