Ditch the dust in your home!

You're never going to get rid of dust completely, but here are 7 ways to keep it under control in your home.

  1. Prevention is the best cure when it comes to dust. Wipe down surfaces regularly to prevent build-up. Use a damp microfibre cloth and rinse it out repeatedly as you are dusting.
  2. Wash your bedding every week – this is a major collector of dust which can spread around your home.
  3. Use a door mat inside or outside your front and back door. This will reduce the amount of dust that is brought in on footwear (you could also take your shoes off when you come inside).
  4. Clean from top to bottom (such as shelves before floors). Vacuuming should be the last task you do in each room. Don’t forget things such blinds, skirting boards and lampshades.
  5. Vacuum rather than sweep. Brushing can create more dust than it removes.
  6. Vacuum upholstery such as sofas and curtains as these attract a lot of dust.
  7. Clutter equals dust so get rid of anything you don’t want or need and don’t let it build up again.
