Sliding doors are a great option – they are space saving as they function without a hinge, they let in lots of light, and they are designed to be used with minimal effort! If your sliding door is becoming more and more difficult to open, there are a couple of things you can do.
Clean the tracks and rollers
Rollers and tracks need to be cleaned frequently to prevent problems and obstructions. These can include leaves, dirt, and debris. When you vacuum your floors, take a few minutes to clean the rollers and tracks with a brush attachment to prevent any debris from building up.
Adjust the rollers
If a sliding door’s rollers are out of alignment, it’s not going to slide smoothly. Try adjusting the screws holding the wheels in place. Turning the screws clockwise raises the door, while turning them anti clockwise lowers it. For evenness, be sure both sides of the door are adjusted.
If this doesn’t do the trick, call your local sliding door repair guy and they’ll have it gliding smoothly in no time.
