- Use a plug strainer and dispose of anything collected in it, in the bin.
- Don’t pour oil or fats down the sink. Wait for them to cool and solidify and then dispose of in the bin.
- Don’t wash food waste down the drain. Foods that are tiny but expand or congeal in water are common blockage culprits and include: cereals, rice, pasta, diced vegetables, tea leaves and coffee grounds.
- Scrape all food remnants from dishes before you put them in the dishwasher as it can prevent a blockage down the line.
