How to take advantage of cheaper electricity

‍Synergy Smart Home Plan

Synergy's Smart Home Plan is available to everyone and could reduce your electricity bill in the process.

This plan takes advantage of cheaper electricity at certain times of the day.  You will need to have a Smart Meter installed which will record the amount of energy and what time of day the electricity was used so the correct rate is charged.  

By making the shift to using more energy at these times, you could save on your energy costs.

There are four time-bands that apply all year round:

• Everyday off-peak: 9pm to 7am
• Weekday shoulder: 7am to 3pm
• Weekend shoulder: 7am to 9pm
• Peak – weekdays only: 3pm to 9pm
• There is also a supply charge

Calculating your cost

The Smart Home Plan rates are lower than the standard residential A1 tariff during the shoulder and off-peak periods, but higher than the standard residential A1 tariff during peak periods, so be sure to switch your usage away from the peak periods to make the most of your savings.  

• You could run your washing machine and tumble dryer at night
• Set your reticulation to water your garden before 7am
• Turn on your air conditioning at home after 9pm (the hot nights are the worst!)
• Set your pool pump to work overnight

This has a fixed rate which is the same all day, every day.  

A simple option for busy homes

• The simplest plan for residential properties - no smart meter required

Available to all customers if electricity is used at the premises solely for residential purposes.
Easy to understand as there’s only the one daily supply charge and one flat rate applied to all units (kWh) of electricity used.
