Keep your windows cleaner for longer

Freshly cleaned windows can make your whole home feel brighter and more open — but dust, spots and smudges have a way of creeping back in before you know it.

Start with the small, regular stuff

A quick once-over inside with a microfibre cloth each week stops dust from settling into a visible film. It takes about a minute, and you'll go much longer before needing a proper clean again. For fingerprints or light marks, a damp cloth followed by a dry one keeps things clear without streaking.

Clean more than just the glass

Frames, sills and tracks are easy to overlook, but they're often the real culprits. Dust and debris gather there first, then get picked up by airflow or movement and end up straight back on the glass. Keep these areas clean and everything stays fresher for longer.

Don't let your screens work against you

Flyscreens trap more dust and pollen than you'd think. When a breeze comes through, that buildup goes right back onto your windows. A quick vacuum or rinse every now and then makes a real difference - especially during dry or windy periods.

Watch out for water marks

Not all marks come from inside. Sprinklers, hose spray and even rain can leave mineral spots on glass, particularly in sunny weather. If you're noticing spotting, it's worth adjusting where your sprinklers are aimed or being more careful when watering nearby plants.

Limit what's blowing in

On breezy days, open windows can let in more than just fresh air - dust, dirt and pollen can settle on clean glass quickly. If it's particularly windy, closing up for a while can help keep things cleaner for longer.

Keep the area around your windows tidy

What's nearby makes more difference than you might expect. Dusty paths, loose garden soil, or leaves gathering near windows can all end up on the glass after wind or rain. A quick sweep outside every now and then helps reduce the mess.

Give your curtains and blinds some attention too

Window coverings collect dust quietly, and every time they move, some of it ends up on the glass. A quick vacuum or shake-out breaks that cycle and keeps the whole area looking cleaner.

Tackle marks while they're fresh

Some things are much easier to deal with early. Bird droppings, sticky residue or water spots can become stubborn if left too long. Catching them quickly saves a lot more effort later. And a professional clean on a regular basis will make sure that your windows are always looking their best.
