- Put glittery items into zip lock bags to prevent making a mess.
- Wrap your Christmas tree and Christmas wreath in cling wrap to keep out dust and insects while in storage. You could also leave the decorations on your tree, and cling wrap the whole thing! It won’t take up much vertical space, and next year, you can just cut open (carefully) the shrink wrap and fluff the branches back into place, no more assembly and light stringing required.
- Wind lights around cardboard squares, coat hangers or empty plastic bottles to prevent a tangled nightmare.
- Keep smaller, fragile baubles in an empty egg carton.
- For longer, outdoor lights, wrap them around a hose reel.
- Use vacuum bags for tinsel or items such as festive cushions and throws – they will fluff up again when you release them next year!
- If you are short of storage space, use under-bed storage containers.
- Use muffin cases to store fragile baubles for extra protection.
- And unless you’re storing everything in clear containers, it’s best to label everything.
