Surprising ways to use hairspray (which don’t involve hair!)

‘Big hair’ may have gone out of fashion but there are still plenty of things you can do with the hair spray!

Easy needle threading

If your eyes aren’t what they used to be, just spray the tip of the thread with hairspray. It will stiffen and be much easier to thread through the needle.

Tame your brows (okay, just one tip that involves hair!)

If your eyebrows are a bit out of control and unruly, spray a mascara brush with hairspray and comb them. This should keep them in place.

Protect your kids’ masterpieces

Spray a light mist of hair spray over your kids’ artwork to set coloured pencil, crayon and chalk. It will also preserve pavement chalk art.

Dust-free curtains

Spray some hairspray on your curtains and they'll stay dust-free longer.

Sticky stickers

Spraying hairspray on the glue left over from stickers can make it easier to remove it.

Stay-put shoelaces

If your shoelaces keep coming undone, spray them with hairspray and they’ll stay put.

Real Christmas trees and wreaths

To keep the needles from falling out of your evergreen decorations, simply spray the tree or wreath with hairspray and it will keep them in place.

Stop the static

Just like static reducing sprays, hairspray contains water and alcohol which are ingredients that neutralise static!
