Upcycle
If you fancy a change – why not have a closer look at what you already have. Sometimes all it takes is paint and a bit of creativity to transform your old pieces into something fresh and functional.
You can paint chairs, tables, or cabinets to match your updated decor. It's a fantastic way to add a personal touch and make your furniture truly one-of-a-kind. And if you have a sad sofa or shabby chair, consider having it reupholstered – it’s amazing how this can rejuvenate a tired old piece into something that is looks and feels brand new!
Donate
If upcycling isn't your thing or you simply have too much furniture to handle, consider donating it to local charities. They'll make sure your well looked after pieces find new homes with individuals or families in need. It's a win-win situation!
Charity organisations which have a collection service include:
Good Sammy
Salvos
St. Vincent de Paul
People Who Care
Friends with Dignity
Some charities have a list of items they cannot accept, or they may not have the capacity to accept any more furniture, so always check their website before you donate, or give them a call.
Buy Nothing Groups
Join your local Buy Nothing Facebook group post your unwanted items.
Ikea
Ikea now has a buy-back scheme. With Buy-back, you can sell them your preloved IKEA furniture. You get the value back on a refund card, and shoppers can bag a bargain through the ‘As-is’ department.
