Adopt a senior dog and give it a wonderful Christmas

If you’ve ever considered getting a puppy but decided you don’t have the time for lots of training and exercise – consider adopting an older dog instead. There are lots of senior dogs looking for homes and usually, less work is involved. Here are more benefits:

  1. Puppies grow quickly and you never quite know what their temperament (and sometimes size!) will be. When you adopt a senior animal, what you see is what you get!
  1. A puppy can cost up to $25,000 over its lifetime but the cost of a healthy senior dog will be much less.
  1. A senior dog will still bond with you, and they will appreciate being part of a loving home.
  1. Less mess and stress! Senior dogs will already be toilet trained!
  1. You can still teach an old dog new tricks!
  1. Older dogs tend to be calmer, and it’s unlikely they will chew up your favourite slippers!
  1. Senior dogs still need exercise and entertainment for their mental and physical wellbeing – so you ‘ll still be able to enjoy walks and playtime with your senior dog.
  1. Senior dogs do tend to be overlooked for cute puppies – but if you give one a loving home, it can be rewarding for everyone, including your kids. You will be making a new best friend for the whole of their life.

Always make sure you adopt from a reputable organisation who has done the necessary checks to make sure the dog you are adopting is healthy and will be suitable for your family.
