  • If your plant’s leaves are smooth, grab a moist cloth or sponge and gently wipe the leaves. Remember to support the leaves with one hand to avoid any bruising or cracking. Lukewarm water works best to prevent leaving water spots behind.
  • For houseplants with fuzzy leaves, an easy way to clean them is to support them and their soil with your fingers, turn them upside down, and swish their leaves in tepid water. Let them drip-dry away from direct sunlight.
  • For smaller fuzzy-leafed plants grab a soft-bristle paintbrush, a soft toothbrush, or even a discarded fuzzy leaf and gently brush from the base to the tip of the leaf, to dislodge dust and debris.
  • If you're dealing with a fine layer of dust on your plant’s leaves, grab a feather duster to gently remove it. Just apply a gentle brushing motion to avoid any leaf damage.
  • Neem oil is a fantastic natural product for cleaning indoor plant leaves. It can kill insects and remove dirt and dust while preventing fungal diseases. Spray neem oil directly onto the leaves and wipe dry with a soft cloth. How to save a dying houseplant
  • For large indoor plants, give them a quick rinse in the shower! Place your potted plants in the shower or bathtub, gently spray the leaves, and let them air-dry afterwards. Use a detachable shower head with lukewarm water and adjust the water pressure to avoid damaging the leaves. Don’t use this method on delicate small plants, as the water pressure may be a bit too much.
  • You can also use good old soap and water. Mix water with a little soap and gently wipe off dirt and dust from the leaves. Remember to support the leaves with your other hand to prevent breakage.

There are no strict rules for how often to clean your plant leaves, but regular cleaning is best. Keep an eye out for significant dust buildup, especially in areas prone to dirt. By adding cleaning to your plant care routine, you'll help your plants thrive and keep them looking stunning. Happy plant cleaning!
