Clean your kitchen in 20 minutes!

Keeping your kitchen clean takes a bit of an effort - but that doesn't mean you have to spend hours every week cleaning and tidying. Try this quick routine so it doesn't turn into a major chore.

  • Pick up everything that doesn't belong in the kitchen and put it in a laundry basket.

  • Fill the sink with soapy water and soak any dishes that need to be washed by hand. Stack anything else in the dishwasher.

  • While the dishes soak, spray the counters with multi-psurpose cleaner, leave for a couple of minutes and wipe them down with a clean cloth.

  • If you notice any splatters on the cupboard doors or stove top, wipe them down as well

  • Wash the dishes in the sink and air dry.

  • Sweep or vacuum the floors to pick up any crumbs.

  • Mop the floors once a week, and once a month thoroughly wipe down the front of each appliance and all cabinet doors.

Good kitchen habits:

  • Don't put it down, put it away!

  • Have one messy drawer - you know, the one with rubber bands, novelty drinking straws and fridge magnets from your last holiday!

  • Wipe up spills straight away, do the dishes while dinner is cooking and put ingredients away once you have used them.

  • Keep all your cleaning equipment in one handy basket.

  • Use wax paper to keep the tops of your overhead kitchen cupboards clean. The paper acts like a magnet to collect dust and grime - just change it a few times a year.

  • Wipe down your cook top every time you use it - do the same with your oven and microwave.

  • Use a smaller bin which is easy to empty rather than a large one where smelly rubbish can be hanging around all week.
