Time Saving Hacks

Organise your wardrobe and save time in a morning

Do you stare aimlessly into your wardrobe in the morning trying to decide what to wear? Is everything so jammed in you can't see what you've got? We've got some great tips to organise your wardrobe space and save time getting ready.

Declutter!

  • Declutter by type - such as tops, shirts, pants, dresses. This is less overwhelming than pulling everything out of your wardrobe at once.
  • When deciding whether to keep something, ask yourself if it matches at least three other things you currently own.

  • Experts say the ideal wardrobe has three times as many tops as bottoms.

  • Try placing half of your clothing in a different room (or in storage boxes) for two weeks. You will be surprised how much easier it is to function and get ready with fewer clothes in your closet - and you may find that you don't miss them at all.

  • Most of us wear 20% of our clothing 80% of the time and would be much happier with fewer wardrobe choices - but you won't know unless you try it!

Make more space

  • Adding an extra rod to your wardrobe can double the amount of space for shorter items such as shirts and blouses. This is a great space-saving idea if you don't have many longer items such as long coats and dresses.

  • Hang anything delicate, fancy, or sturdy (such as coats).

  • Stack thick items such as jeans and jumpers as they won't wrinkle or lose their shape.

  • Roll t-shirts and workout clothes into drawers - simply fold them into a third and roll them into neat little tubes, so you can see everything at a glance.

  • You can store smaller handbags in larger ones.

  • Consider storing out of season clothing in a suitcase or storage boxes.

Get organised!

  • Having an organised wardrobe will make your morning routine easier, less stressful and less time consuming.

  • Group matching colours together to make morning outfit choices easier.

  • Group whole outfits together in your wardrobe, so you just have to grab a couple of hangers and you're good to go.

  • Find that 'capsule' wardrobe inside your existing wardrobe. Capsule wardrobes are designed to take a few items of clothing and create multiple looks. Put basics such as pants, cardigans, simple shirts, and a trusty pair of blue jeans in an easily accessible place.  How to look after your clothes so they last longer

  • Another option is to choose a few colours you love and add neutral pieces in white, black, navy, or grey.

  • Store your shoes in clear shoe boxes - they are stackable to save space, and you can see what you've got.

  • Once your wardrobe is organised, you can keep it that way by putting clothes away promptly (and in the right place) after washing and ironing!
