Pros

  • Also known as olefin, polypropylene is a highly durable material that is resistant to wear and tear, making it ideal for high-traffic areas.
  • It is also resistant to stains, which makes it a great choice for homes with pets or young children. Get rid of pet smells in your home
  • Polypropylene is one of the most affordable types of carpet available on the market today, making it an excellent choice for homeowners on a budget.
  • It’s easy to clean and maintain. It can be vacuumed regularly, and spot cleaned as needed with a mild detergent and water.
  • It also has a resistance to stains and moisture. Unlike natural fibres such as wool or cotton, it doesn’t absorb water easily, which makes it less prone to mould and mildew growth. Additionally, polypropylene carpet is often treated with stain-resistant coatings that make it easier to clean up spills and stains.
  • Available in a range of colours and styles so there’s something for everyone.

Cons

  • A potential issue with polypropylene carpet is it can be prone to fading and discolouration when exposed to direct sunlight. This can be a problem for areas where the sun is intense or for homes which have large windows or are exposed to a lot of sunlight. Stop the sun from invading your home.
  • It can feel rough to the touch as it’s not as soft as natural fibres such as wool.
  • It is not the most eco-friendly choice, as it is made from petroleum-based products.
