Who doesn’t love baked goodies? There may be the odd (very odd!) person who doesn’t like them, but for most of us they are a real treat. And they are even better when they are homemade.
Cooking or baking together is a fun activity for kids of all ages and it can create a great family tradition – especially if you can find an old family favourite recipe to pass down the line. Kids can help stir, use cookie cutters, and the best bit, taste test! If you choose an easy recipe, you can get older kids to do most of the work while you supervise (with a cuppa!).
Baking with the kids has a double positive effect; as we have already mentioned once or twice – cake, muffins, biscuits, what’s not to like? And you are also giving your kids an important lesson in kindness. Sharing food is a great conversation starter and getting to know our neighbours is easier when you have brought a plate of something delicious.
Sharing has huge benefits for everyone including reduced stress and anxiety, and improved happiness – not to mention spreading some kindness! People who witness acts of kindness are more likely to try it themselves. Being kind can also boost self-esteem which is great for anyone of any age.

Remember:
Always add an ingredients list when you are sharing your homemade treats just in case the recipient has any allergies.
