Father’s Day ideas that create awesome memories

This Father’s Day, rather than buying your dad things that he doesn’t really need, why not make some new memories with him instead. We have lots of great ideas to get you started for dads of all ages.

  • Have a pizza party – with homemade pizza dough and toppings.
  • Take a class together – it could be music, art, meditation, pottery, photography – whatever your dad is interested in.
  • Make a family tree together
  • Make a scrapbook with photos and memories. You could put it together as a surprise for him or gather everything you need and do it together.
  • Have a 'pull apart' day to see how stuff works!
  • Fill a jar with happy memories written on notes.
  • Help him wash the car
  • Pack a picnic and go to the park.
  • Build an indoor cubby – your dad could even have a little snooze inside it when you’re done!
  • Get out the firepit and toast some marshmallows.
  • Enjoy the cinema experience at home. It could be a new movie or a movie marathon watching Star Wars, Harry Potter, the Avengers, etc. (Just pick one movie franchise or you’ll be there for days!)
  • Play retro games – your dad might even remember a few!
  • Grab any footage you have of your dad and edit it together to create a Father’s Day video. There are lots of transfer services available these days if the format you have is obsolete! So, dust off those old VHS tapes and make good use of them!
  • Make a time capsule.
  • Give him a jar or box filled with activity ideas – he must pick one out every weekend to do until the jar/box is empty. Activities could include going to the park, playing football, going for breakfast, doing a jigsaw, or making Lego creations. The options are endless. Include as many or as few as you like.
  • Do some cooking together– we've got lots of easy recipes to try!
  • Father's Day ideas that won't cost a cent
