- Start with a list of things to do. Just writing the list will save time, and make you feel less stressed and ready to go.
- If you are cooking lunch at home, delegate tasks. You don't need to do everything yourself.
- Consider keeping it simple. Arrange for a buffet style event and ask everyone to bring a platter of food. Hint: Ask everyone to bring something different, or you could get several bowls of potato salad or coleslaw!
- Make a shopping list so you don’t get distracted in the supermarket!
- Buy as many non-perishable food items as you can in advance to avoid a trip to the supermarket on Christmas Eve!
- You can even buy your fruit and veggies ahead as long as they are stored correctly.
- Consider doing your food shopping online and have it delivered. Bear in mind that delivery times may be scarce, the closer it gets to Christmas. You can also try Click & Collect which is a great alternative.
- Enlist some family help to speed things up.
- Make your sauces and/or salad dressings the day before and store in the fridge (you could also take a shortcut and buy readymade. Shhhhh – we won’t tell if you don’t!)
- Parboil vegetables the day before and store in the fridge – they will roast in no time at all.
- Put your slow cooker to work – think slow cooked pork or lamb shoulder for a change, or bacon wrapped turkey breast. Try our Balsamic Roast Beef.
- Clean your kitchen in 20 minutes!
- If you’re opting for a Christmas BBQ, make sure it is clean and ready to go if it hasn’t been used since last summer. No one wants their steak with a side of spider!
