  • Plan meals for the whole week at the weekend rather than spending half an hour just before dinner trying to think of something to cook. Double your recipe and freeze one lot of meals for another day.
  • Cut the time you spend at the supermarket.
  • Put your phone down! Australians spend an average of 5.5 hours on their phone each day. There is a function on your phone which tells you how much time you spend on your phone each day. The amount of time will probably surprise (and horrify!) you.
  • Get up half an hour earlier in the morning and complete a couple of tasks.

You could:

  1. Empty the dishwasher
  2. Put on a load of washing. Save time in the laundry
  3. Iron a couple of items for the rest of the week. Time-saving ironing tips
  • Write a to do list for the next day. Don’t be too ambitious and you’ll feel great when you tick them all as ‘done’!
  • Combine exercise with other activities – such as walking the dog while listening to a podcast or audio book.
  • Use your downtime effectively. If you catch the bus or train to work, do your online grocery order or other tasks you can complete on your phone – or read that book club book you’ve been putting off.
  • Switch to direct debits for bills with a monthly amount rather than telling yourself you’ll sort it out later.
  • Set a timer or listen to ONE song when you are in the shower or before you know it, you’ve been in there for 20 minutes. Here are more time saving tips in the bathroom
  • It’s not necessary to wash your hair every day (in fact, it’s better for your hair if you don’t) If you have long hair, get yourself a shower cap! Save time on your hair care routine
  • Get ready for the morning the night before and organise your wardrobe to make it easier to find everything you need.
  • Freeze smoothie packs for breakfast and then quickly blend one in a morning – healthy, fast, and portable.
  • Precook rice and pasta and freeze for a quick and easy midweek meal. Then just pour over boiling water or defrost in the microwave, combine with a pre-made sauce and you’re good to go. More time-saving cooking shortcuts
  • Create a place for everything (such as a small basket for your keys, sunglasses, and wallet) so you’re not hunting high and low every morning.
  • Clean your house in 30 minutes!
