What is it?

It's like a big garage sale in your street, but with a twist – no money changes hands! It's a fantastic way to declutter, socialise, and discover hidden treasures right within your neighbourhood.

Get ready

Get ready to swap until you drop by choosing a date and spreading the word in your street (or a couple of streets – whatever you decide will work best). Next, create colourful flyers with an explanation of what a Street Swap is along with a date and a start time; then pop one into everyone’s mailboxes.

On the day

On the day of the Street Swap, set up on your verandah, driveway or in your garage. You can include anything from clothing, books, toys, kitchen gadgets, to plants and excess harvest from your garden such as lemons, herbs and garden cuttings. The possibilities are endless!

As neighbours visit each other's houses, it’s a chance to strike up conversations, meet people with common interests, and even start new friendships over a shared love of things such as vintage vinyl or gardening.

After the Street Swap, you could also encourage everyone to donate any leftover items to local charities or shelters. This way, you'll not only be helping each other but also making a positive impact on those in need.

So, get ready to bring your street to life, by creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere with your very own Street Swap!
